Meet Our Pastor
Rev. Brett Johnson was appointed as pastor to the Canton United Methodist Church in July 2021. As graduates of SUNY Potsdam, he and his wife Rachel were already familiar with the “North Country” region. Pastor Brett attended Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinty School, graduating in 2015 and becoming a fully ordained elder in the United Methodist Church in June 2023. Before responding to the call to pursue ministry (or “God’s Holy 2 x 4” as Pastor Brett often refers to God’s insistent voice), he worked in the trucking and moving industry. Pastor Brett and Rachel, who works for the Potsdam School District, live in the historic Parsonage house next to the church with their active family of five children, spanning ages from toddler to teenagers. Pastor Brett is also active in the Canton Community as a Chaplain to the Fire Department and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
